W1D1 C25K Program

So I took the hardest step of my life this morning... I stepped out my door and started the program again.  Instead of getting dressed this morning in "normal" clothes, I put on my running shoes and running clothes.  Walked Cutie to the bus stop, dropped Little Man off at daycare, came home, grabed my iPhone (haven't put this ap on my iPod yet... but I found a GREAT ap that lets you use your own play list, and gives you the C25K program cues on when to run and walk), and walked out the door.  Phew!  I forgot to do one thing, and that was to take my allergy medicine before my run/walk, which did hurt a bit, but not too bad.  But I did it!  Phew!  That first step is always the hardest.  It felt good and now, even after stretching, I'm hurting!  Already... holy cow, man!  It looks like I'll be doing some Yoga tonight after the little ones go to bed.

Because I'm trying to ad more pics to my blog... here's a pic of my shoes this morning while waiting for the bus.
You can see Little Man's stroller in the pic too....  Oops!  :)

I also am thinking about a way to jump start my weight loss...  I have seen a couple of "cleanses" that use real food... anyone try one?  Just curious.  I need to get off the processed foods!  They are killing me.  Leave me a comment and let me know what you've done or what "diet" you are following.

Getting back in the saddle

Is probably the hardest thing to do.  I had every intention to run today after dropping Little Man off at daycare.  But he decided that 3 am was play time!  ARGH!  So no running, because I can barely keep my eyes open today.  Hoping to run tomorrow, since I have the day off for Yom Kippur.  Hope all my Jewish friends' fasts go quickly and smoothly.

I'm BAACCKK!!!!

Okay, so I took a small break because I was pregnant, and my allergies/asthma got to the point where I couldn't run.  But I'm back and better than ever.  I had a little boy back in April, and signed up for the NOLA Color Run (which is in November).  YAY!  A friend of mine and I are going to run this run... actually, she put together a team.  YAY!  I can't wait.

If you haven't heard about the Color Run, check it out here...  www.thecolorrun.com.  It looks like it will be fun, even though I am TOTALLY not a "get dirty" kind of person.

Anyway, so this week, I am starting all over... week 1 of the C25K program, here I come.  Wish me luck and energy.  Two kids really zap the energy out of you!

Re-do Week 4

So, weeks 1-3 were GREAT! Week 4, not so much. I decided that I needed to re-do week 4, because I didn't finish it the way I wanted to.
So yesterday was Day 1 of week 4, redo. Still not great, but better. I think it is all a mind thing. I may have to try running outside, because I do get bored inside and time seems to go so slowly inside. But I did finish D1W4, again. I have also decided, recently, to take control of my eating. I am working on eating cleanly. (I did start a seperate blog about that one and it is www.liziseatingclean.blogspot.com) Check it out! I'm going to post the good, the bad and the ugly about changing my lifestyle. Wish me luck!
Oh, and I also have figured out, at least, one race I will be running... now to sign up! It is the Fall Crescent City Classic 5K. A friend of mine asked if I wanted to run it with her. Well, sign me up! Another friend asked if I wanted to run another one that is in Oct (the Fall Classic is in Nov). I'm nervous that I won't be ready, but why not! So YAY, I have my first 2 races... now to sign up for both.

Week 1 - DONE!

So, I finished week 1, and it wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it was going to be. And definitely by the 3rd day, I was getting hooked. I felt myself finding the runs easier. Amazing! I wasn't completely sold that I would be ready to move on to the next challenge after a week, and 3 times during that week, at that. But I was.

So I started Week 2 today. It was, dare I say, easy... the running parts that is. And I actaully felt myself counting down the walking times. AMAZING! :) I can't wait to keep on going.

Once I figure out my auto timer on my cammera, I will be taking before (well week 1) pictures, as well as during and after. I think it will help motivate me to see the changes in myself.

It has been WAY too long

So I completely forgot that I had this blog about my attempts to run. HA! Okay, so I'll fill you in. We left VA (again) and are now in NOLA (New Orleans Louisiana). We've been here for a little over a year and are loving it. I haven't run a 5K yet, but I think this will be my year. I have a very good friend who lives about 45 mins away and she is doing the program as well. I think I have a partner to walk/run a 5K with, until she moves again. The joys of being a military spouse. So, I am starting tomorrow morning with week 1, day 1 and this time, I will finish and run a 5k!
On a side note, DH and I were talking a few weeks back. I am nervous, but excited by the prospect... he only has 6 more years until he's eligible to retire! Wow! We are on year #2 of a 4 year tour (just starting year 2)... so that means, after this tour, we have 3 more years. *unless, of course, he isliking it and is still doing well.. then we're in for a bit longer!) Wow! The prospect of not having to move every 2-4 years is daunting, but kind of reassuring too. I don't know if we are old enough yet for him to retire from the military, though. :D

Saturday, March 28, 2009

So I just found that I had started this blog about a year ago. A lot has happened to me... we moved, I got a new job, I found some new friends (which isn't unusual with being the wife of an active duty military member), and my daughter has almost turned 2. I am serious about running a 5K... and am committed to doing it by the end of June 2009. So here is my plight to train again. I did hire a personal trainer shortly after moving, and have noticed a change in my physique, but honestly, I don't see enough of a change yet. So, hopefully with this new found dedication to running, I will find myself and the body I once had. So stick with me... I'll show you all the pitfalls, and triumphs that I have in running this 5K... I'm also going to possibly train for the Women's 4 Miler here in town. Wish me luck!
